The Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA) is seeking a technically skilled Web Developer Associate to support the management and maintenance of our Wix-based main website, while also assisting with other digital platforms, including our journal site, newsletter system, and upcoming web-based services.
In this role, you will work closely with the team to ensure that website updates, improvements, and development tasks are implemented efficiently. The position requires someone who is proactive, reliable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. The Associate will also assist colleagues with basic web-related questions and contribute to maintaining smooth digital operations across our platforms.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates looking to gain hands-on experience in web development and digital platform management within an international nonprofit environment, while contributing to meaningful work in global health.
Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot the main Wix website, including regular content updates, structural changes, and resolving technical issues.
- Administer and troubleshoot the journal website built on Open Journal Systems (OJS), including PHP-based customizations.
- Operate and troubleshoot the current newsletter platform (not Wix-based) and lead the evaluation and implementation of a new newsletter system.
- Support the development of upcoming web-based platforms and applications using HTML, CSS, and optionally JavaScript/Java.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to colleagues for any web-related issues, ensuring smooth operation and problem resolution.
- Take initiative to identify and resolve website and platform issues proactively, with minimal supervision.
Requirements
Essential:
- Strong experience administering websites, with emphasis on Wix.
- Proficiency in HTML & CSS.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot website issues proactively.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional team environment.
Desirable:
- Experience with PHP and Open Journal Systems (OJS).
- JavaScript and/or Java experience for developing web-based services.
- Previous experience implementing or migrating newsletter systems.
- Comfortable managing multiple evolving web platforms.
- Knowing UX/UI knowledge is a plus.
