Avrillo is a conveyancing firm that builds its own technology. We don't bolt software onto legal processes, we rebuild how conveyancing works from the ground up, using AI as a core part of how we develop and how our platform operates.
We're looking for a Senior PHP Developer to join our established development team and help us continue transforming one of the most paper-heavy, frustrating industries in the UK.
You'll work on real systems that are live today, processing documents, verifying identities, integrating with lenders and estate agents, not prototypes or proof-of-concepts. Full AI-assisted development is already how we work. We're looking for someone who operates the same way.
What you'd actually be working on
We're mid-journey on a significant platform evolution. You'd be joining a team that's actively delivering:
- CRM and case management rebuild — migrating away from legacy systems to something we own and control
- AML and compliance automation — source of funds verification, identity checks, fraud detection, integrating with leading providers
- Document intelligence — processing, extracting, and understanding legal documents at scale
- Third-party integrations — estate agent portals, lender APIs, payment systems
This isn't theoretical. These systems handle real transactions for real clients, every day.
What "AI-driven" means here
AI isn't a line item on our roadmap, it's embedded in how we build.
We use AI-assisted development workflows as standard. We integrate LLMs and automation into the platform itself, document processing, decision support, compliance checks. If you're already working this way and have opinions about how to do it well, you'll fit right in.
The team
You'd be joining a small, close development team that owns what it builds. We're not a tech department serving "the business", we're part of the same thing. Developers here have direct input into what we build and why.
You'd work alongside teammates covering Laravel, Vue, integrations, and infrastructure. You will report to the Team Lead, who'll be your main point of contact day-to-day.
What we're looking for
Technically:
- Production experience in AI-assisted development and LLM integration
- Strong PHP and Laravel experience (5+ years)
- Comfortable with Vue.js or willing to get there
- Strong Architectural skills, planning for the future not just the present
- Experience with APIs, integrations, and working with third-party systems
- Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud environments

- You're comfortable with ambiguity. We're building the plane while flying it, you won't always have a spec.
- You communicate clearly. We're a remote team, writing well and speaking up matters.

For context, the role operates between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. The earlier start allows time to prepare before client communications begin and to participate in internal support and team discussions.
Client-facing communication is managed within structured timeframes during the day, which helps protect your time, reduce interruptions, and manage client expectations effectively.
