Senior Developer (Full Stack, WordPress, Cloud)

We are seeking a Senior Developer with strong expertise in both front-end and back-end development, particularly in WordPress (custom themes, plugins), databases, and cloud infrastructure. A solid understanding of SEO for content sites, performance metrics, data, AI, automation, and system integration is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes tailored to our design, performance, and editorial architecture.
• Create and adjust WordPress plugins for specific platform functionalities (e.g., AI tool integration, content ingestion, personalization, automation, forms).
• Work on the back-end using PHP (ideally WordPress + WP-CLI + custom CPTs, taxonomies, custom fields, etc.).
• Design and maintain MySQL databases (modeling, indexing, optimized queries) for high-traffic performance.
• Implement and manage AWS infrastructure (e.g., EC2, ECS (containers), S3 (media storage), CloudWatch (monitoring/logs)) with a focus on cost and scalability.
• Optimize the website for technical SEO (performance, loading time, rendering, mobile-first, clean URLs, schema.org, news article markup, etc.).
• Integrate and work with AI/automation (e.g., content ingestion, article recommendations, personalization, editorial workflows).
• Collaborate with UX/UI, content, marketing, SEO, and operations teams to meet traffic, engagement, and monetization goals.

Must-Haves:

• Over 5 years of experience as a Senior Full Stack Developer.
• Strong experience in WordPress – creating themes from scratch, advanced customization, plugins, WP REST APIs.
• Deep mastery of PHP and MySQL (scalability, performance).
• Front-end experience: HTML5, CSS3/Sass, JavaScript (vanilla + frameworks/libraries) – ideally familiarity with React/Vue or equivalent for interactive modules.
• AWS experience (EC2, ECS, S3, CloudWatch or equivalent) and understanding of scale, cost, and security.
• Technical knowledge of SEO for news sites (loading time, mobile, markup, structured data, etc.).
• Ability to work with automation or AI integration (even in partnership with an AI team, a technical understanding is required).
• Good communication, autonomy, results-orientation, and ability to deliver in an agile/startup context.
• Technical English (reading/writing) for documentation, APIs, and libraries.

Experience with:

• WordPress multisite or high-traffic publishing platforms.
• Containers (Docker), CI/CD, Kubernetes.
• Other databases or caches (Redis, ElasticSearch).
• Web analytics (Google Analytics, Search Console), marketing automation, or AI-driven content personalization.
