Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced WordPress Developer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level WordPress websites and digital solutions. This role is ideal for someone with strong front-end development skills who can build scalable, accessible, and high-performing web experiences while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, and reusable components.
- Convert Figma designs into responsive WordPress templates.
- Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA accessibility standards.
- Optimize website performance, mobile responsiveness, and Core Web Vitals.
- Troubleshoot WordPress issues, plugin conflicts, and API integrations.
- Integrate WordPress with enterprise systems, REST APIs, CRM, and marketing platforms.
- Manage structured content using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) or similar frameworks.
- Maintain code quality using Git/GitHub and support deployment processes.
- Perform WordPress core, plugin, and security updates.
- Support multi-site WordPress environments and scalable architecture.
- Collaborate with UX, marketing, and technical teams throughout the SDLC.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on WordPress development experience.
- Experience with WordPress Multi-site environments preferred.
- Strong experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, and responsive web development.
- Experience with Git/GitHub and version control.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and XML.
- Experience with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
- Knowledge of SEO best practices.
- Experience optimizing website performance and implementing WordPress security best practices.
- Experience using browser debugging tools such as Chrome DevTools.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education or other large, complex organizations.
- Familiarity with headless or hybrid WordPress architectures.
- Experience with hosting platforms such as Pantheon or similar.
Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
