The Role: Freelance WordPress Developer
We are seeking a skilled Freelance WordPress Developer to join our team and support multiple client website projects. This fully remote position requires 6-8 hours per day, collaborating with our Project Managers to build, optimize, and maintain high-quality WordPress sites. This role focuses on excellent technical execution, allowing you to concentrate on development while our PMs manage direct client communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and customize WordPress themes to meet client specifications.
- Build custom plugins and modify existing functionality for client needs.
- Optimize websites for speed, performance, and scalability.
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing WordPress sites across multiple client accounts.
- Execute new website builds from concept to launch.
- Customize and configure Elementor Pro layouts and components.
- Implement and customize WooCommerce functionality for e-commerce clients.
- Perform website migrations between hosting environments.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to execute tasks on schedule and to specification.
- Follow documented processes and best practices for consistent quality.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on WordPress development experience.
- Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Proven experience with custom WordPress theme development.
- Solid understanding of WordPress plugin development and customization.
- Experience with Elementor Pro (required for client builds).
- Working knowledge of WooCommerce setup and customization.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize WordPress performance and speed.
- Experience with website migrations and hosting environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Excellent written communication for remote collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cloudways hosting platform.
- Familiarity with WP-CLI and Git version control.
- Knowledge of WordPress security best practices.
- Experience with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
- Understanding of SEO principles and implementation.
- Experience supporting multiple client projects simultaneously.
- Comfortable following SOPs and documented workflows.
