Verona Creative Marketing, LLC is seeking an experienced Website Designer / Developer with a strong focus on WordPress to join our remote creative team.
This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional comfortable owning WordPress projects from start to finish, while also supporting occasional builds or updates. Experience with other platforms (ex. Squarespace, Webflow, or Shopify, etc.) is also necessary.
This is a remote, per-project, hourly contract position with flexible scheduling and potential for long-term, ongoing work. Hours vary depending on client needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and develop modern, responsive websites primarily using WordPress
- Customize WordPress themes, child themes, page builders, and plugins
- Build, maintain, and update existing websites
- Optimize websites for mobile responsiveness, performance, accessibility, and SEO/AI
- Troubleshoot issues including plugin conflicts, errors, and layout problems
- Implement basic on-page SEO, analytics, and third-party integrations
- Work on additional CMS platforms as needed (Squarespace, Webflow, Shopify, etc.)
- Communicate with internal team members and clients via email or virtual meetings
- Meet project deadlines while managing multiple assignments independently
- Provide occasional documentation or basic client instructions when required
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional website design and development experience
- Strong WordPress expertise (themes, plugins, page builders, best practices)
- Proficiency in HTML and CSS; basic JavaScript required (PHP preferred)
- Experience with WordPress page builders (Elementor, Gutenberg, WPBakery, or similar)
- United States based
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with custom WordPress themes or Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
- Familiarity with website security, backups, and Core Web Vitals
- Experience with additional CMS platforms (Squarespace, Webflow, Shopify)
- Background working with marketing or branding-focused websites
- Understanding of UX/UI principles and conversion-focused design
- Familiarity with SEO/AI fundamentals and website performance optimization
- Experience working remotely and managing multiple projects independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Reliable high-speed internet connection
Job Types: Contract, Freelance
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
