Join Western Educational Adventures (WEA), a small, family-run business, for casual, part-time, or contract web development work. This role involves maintaining and building our websites and online program pages, with potential for a long-term, ongoing position.
WEA operates bus charters, outdoor adventure camps, and youth leadership programs on Vancouver Island. We manage our websites in-house and seek assistance with technical website development, including page building, content updates, and creating signup/trip registration pages using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Remuneration
- $25–$100 per hour, depending on experience and skill level
- Pay rate may vary based on work complexity
- Additional administrative or technical work may be available at a different rate
Hours
This is a casual, as-needed position, starting at approximately 2–12 hours per month. We are looking for someone interested in ongoing work rather than a one-time project.
- Website development: Hours vary depending on current projects.
- Program page updates: Regular updates are required throughout the year as trips, camps, and programs are added.
- Optional technical projects: Additional work may be available for small tools, signup pages, or system improvements.
Expectations
- Strong HTML and CSS skills
- Comfortable working with JavaScript
- Ability to work without page builders or WordPress themes
- Able to follow existing code structure
- Reliable and responsive
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism, including meeting deadlines
- Able to problem solve and work independently
Responsibilities
- Build and edit HTML pages
- Create and update trip and program pages
- Assist with signup / registration / payment pages
- Maintain existing websites
- Help troubleshoot website issues
- Provide constructive feedback on improvements when appropriate
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Basic understanding of how websites are hosted and published
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with PHP, Node.js, or other backend languages
- Experience with payment systems such as Stripe or Square
- Experience working with custom-built or static websites
- Experience working with small businesses or youth programs
