We are seeking a skilled developer to enhance our WordPress platform by implementing a modular architecture. This critical project involves spinning off existing functionality into separate plugins and creating a basic parent theme to ensure consistent styling and functionality across all EastIdahoNews.com properties.
This is a six-month contract position with the potential for conversion to a full-time role upon project completion. Compensation includes an hourly base pay ($33.00 - $38.00 per hour) plus bonuses awarded upon reaching specific milestones. Expected commitment is 20–40 hours per week. This is a remote position.

Ideal Candidate Profile
- Expertise in WordPress Backend: Deep knowledge of themes, plugins, and best practices.
- Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
- Demonstrated UI/UX skills for creating aesthetically pleasing and functional designs.
- Familiarity with version control systems, specifically Git/GitHub.
- Highly organized, consistent, and proven ability to meet goals.
- Capable of working effectively in small teams or independently (unsupervised).
- Proactive communicator who asks questions and seeks to understand the needs of EastIdahoNews.com.
Having familiarity with the communications field (journalism or otherwise) is a significant advantage. Note: A sense of humor is required for this role.
