My CRM Manager assists organizations with implementing and supporting CRM solutions. We maintain and extend our WordPress site and occasionally develop client-facing web assets. We are a small, friendly, diverse, and fully remote team.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a freelance Web Designer with a strong background in WordPress and PHP, coupled with a keen eye for design. This role requires expertise in graphics, color theory, and transforming content into attractive web assets. You will build and extend custom plugins, enhance error handling, and occasionally handle client-facing tasks. Trustworthiness and clear English communication are essential.

Important: This is a part-time contract role, ideal for a self-employed developer. We anticipate an estimated load of approximately 100 hours per year, with workload varying monthly based on projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate detailed scopes into well-built, maintainable final products.
  • Build and extend custom WordPress plugins (from scratch and using hooks/filters).
  • Implement robust error handling, QA, and edge-case testing.
  • Manage SFTP deploys and Git version control workflows.
  • Collaborate on ensuring screens are visually attractive and consistent with brand guidelines.
  • Triage and complete occasional client-facing tasks with discretion and follow-through.
  • (Bonus) Assist across IIS and Linux server environments as needed.

Must-Have Skills

  • Custom WordPress Plugins (from requirements gathering to production deployment).
  • Expert-level PHP (including OOP, namespaces, autoloaders, and secure coding practices).
  • Intermediate JavaScript (Vanilla/ES6; experience enhancing WP admin UI).
  • Strong English communication (clear written updates, reliable, proactive communication).
  • Ability to take projects from detailed scope to polished delivery.
  • Strong QA discipline: experience with test plans, edge-case coverage, and regression awareness.
  • Experience expanding scopes to ensure proper error handling and resilience.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Comfortable with SFTP workflows.
  • Proficiency in Git (feature branches, PRs, code reviews).
  • Experience across IIS and Linux servers.
