As a Web & Digital Content Intern, you will be an integral part of our Marketing and Communications team, learning how websites and digital content support a nonprofit’s mission. We deeply value your unique experiences, perspectives, creative ideas, and skills.
Internship Details
- Position Title: Web & Digital Content Intern
- Location: Remote (U.S. only)
- Anticipated Start Date: June 1st, 2026
- Anticipated End Date: July 24th, 2026
- Work Schedule: Minimum 20 hours per week, consistent schedule between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday.
- Compensation: $18 per hour.
Role & Responsibilities
This role focuses on the technical implementation, user experience, and visual appeal of web content that supports our teams in mobilizing our network of campuses, workplaces, and communities. You will directly contribute to projects driven by the organization’s strategic goals, which may include:
- Triaging work requests for Active Minds' websites.
- Designing web pages using a custom library of branded components.
- Auditing pages for content or design improvements.
- Troubleshooting bugs or technical issues.
- Supporting ongoing work to develop custom website components.
- Working on special projects as assigned (depending on interest and experience).
You will collaborate with members from across the entire organization and be supervised by the Manager, Web & Digital Content.
Required Qualifications
- Experience using WordPress, a content management system (CMS), ideally with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) as a custom page builder, or similar advanced toolsets.
- Experienced with HTML and CSS, and their use in modern web design.
- Strong written and communications skills, including regular use of email, Slack, and reviewing technical documentation.
- Flexible team player with an openness and willingness to learn.
- Self-starter with a positive attitude who enjoys working proactively and thinking creatively.
- Accustomed to working on multiple projects with different deadlines simultaneously.
- A stickler for details, quality, and security.
Preferred Qualifications (A Plus)
- Experience with front-end development frameworks like Twig, Node.js, Tailwind CSS, or React.
- Experience with programming languages like PHP and JavaScript.
- Experience with Git/Github and CLI tools.
- Experience using Figma or the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop).
Eligibility Requirements
- All applicants must be currently enrolled in, or have previously attended, a U.S. based college or university.
- All applicants must be able to complete a work authorization (I-9) during onboarding.
- All applicants must be able to complete the entirety of the internship program during the listed dates.
