Responsibilities and Duties
About the Position:
- You will be responsible for the technical leadership of the Services module of our ERP in production - a critical, high-impact area for our clients.
- This is a real technical leadership role, not just a senior developer position.
- You will be the absolute leader of the module, reporting directly to the Director of Technology.
Strategic Context:
Upon taking the position, you will inherit a team of 8 to 10 developers with varying maturity levels, being responsible for:
- Keeping the Service Invoices (NFSe) development pipeline active, stable, and uninterrupted.
- Continuously evolving the module with new features.
- Maintaining a close relationship with the Support team to ensure customer service excellence.
- Ensuring quality and predictability in deliveries, reducing rework.
- Ensuring that documentation and UX are so clear that clients do not need support to understand new features.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead, develop, and mentor 8 to 10 developers of various experience levels.
- Be directly responsible for team performance, quality, and deliverables.
- Identify skill gaps and create structured development plans.
- Establish a high standard of commitment, quality, and excellence.
- Make tough decisions regarding prioritization, scale, risks, and technical trade-offs.
Technical Planning and Architecture:
- Define the technical strategy for the Services module (NFSe, billing, and integrations).
- Analyze requirements and propose scalable, sustainable, and resilient solutions.
- Plan and execute architectural refactoring and improvements.
- Evaluate and recommend technologies aligned with business goals.
- Ensure security, performance, compliance, and maintainability across all solutions.
Quality and Delivery:
- Implement strict coding standards, top-tier code reviews, and structured best practices.
- Ensure high automated test coverage.
- Establish a clear and non-negotiable Definition of Done.
- Ensure the quality of all deliveries to the end client.
- Eliminate rework and production bugs as a priority.
- Ensure intuitive technical documentation and UX.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Proactively communicate status, risks, and impediments to the IT Director.
- Work closely with Support to understand real customer pain points.
- Interact with Product and Business teams for smart prioritization.
- Translate technical decisions into accessible language for non-technical stakeholders.
- Manage realistic expectations regarding timelines and effort.
Metrics and Continuous Improvement:
- Rigorously track roadmap delivery, production bugs, and resolution times.
- Conduct structured retrospectives and implement agile improvements.
- Mentor junior developers to reach senior level within 12 months.
- Demonstrate measurable results in quality and customer satisfaction.
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in software development using structured methodologies.
- At least 3 years in proven technical leadership (Tech Lead, Tech Manager, or similar).
- Experience in technical team management with accountability for results.
- Experience maintaining and evolving critical production systems.
- Experience with ERP, complex legacy systems, or financial solutions is a major plus.
Technical Knowledge - Core Stack:
- Solid PHP 7+.
- SQL and relational databases (preferably SQL Server).
- Version control with Git (GitHub/GitLab).
- REST and SOAP APIs; integrated systems architecture.
- System integration and data synchronization.
Domain-Specific Knowledge:
- Development of billing solutions, NFSe, or similar.
- Tax regulations and compliance (NFS-e legislation).
- Understanding of revenue flows and financial auditing.
Desirable Requirements (Valued Differentiators):
- Experience with ERP languages (ABAP, AdvPL, Harbour).
- Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Docker and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Cloud (AWS or similar).
- Linux and Shell Scripting.
- Advanced automated testing.
- Formal experience in mentoring and developing technical leaders.
- Background in change management and digital transformation.
