About the Role
OpenTech Alliance is seeking a Software Engineer III to take ownership of significant applications and outcomes within one of our product engineering teams. You will lead solutions from concept and design through delivery and operation, working closely with Product Management, Quality Engineering, and other stakeholders to solve complex problems and improve the reliability, scalability, and security of our platforms. This is a full-stack role with end-to-end ownership of customer-facing applications — spanning modern web apps, services, APIs, integrations, and data. We value technical judgment and system-level thinking over expertise in any single technology, and we are looking for depth in one or more areas plus sound judgment across the wider system.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, deploy, and operate complex production software across the stack.
- Own technical outcomes from requirements and architecture through production.
- Partner with Product, QA, Design, and other engineers to shape effective solutions.
- Influence technical direction through system design, code reviews, and clear communication.
- Diagnose complex cross-system issues and drive durable root-cause fixes.
- Improve platform health through automated testing, observability, security, and scalability.
- Mentor other engineers and improve team practices and tools.
- Experience evolving or modernizing mature, business-critical platforms.
- Experience with cloud platforms, distributed systems, or high-traffic web applications.
- Experience with CI/CD, observability, monitoring, security, and production support.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
What We’re Looking For
An engineer with strong experience in designing, delivering, and operating production software — deep in at least one modern language and able to apply sound engineering principles across languages and platforms. You are comfortable owning systems that span user experience, services, integrations, and data, you balance product value with technical quality and long-term platform health, and you lift the engineers around you.

Our stack includes C#, TypeScript, PHP, Angular, React, React Native, relational databases, and AWS services — and it keeps evolving. Expertise in these specific tools is helpful but not required; you will help shape where the platform goes by making thoughtful, principled technology choices based on product needs and long-term health.
