Are you a standout software developer passionate about making a positive global impact? We are seeking a talented Software Development Engineer to serve on our mission-critical Support Team. In this role, you will build tools that lead to a better life for thousands of children in the most vulnerable places worldwide by providing an excellent online experience for our donors.

You will expand your skills by handling urgent break-fix issues, collaborating across diverse teams, instrumenting monitoring systems, and building automation for operational tasks. As part of the Support Team, you will participate in an on-call rotation to address system issues and donor-facing concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, chapel, prayer, worship, devotions, and leadership of devotions); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.
  2. Application Team Support:
    • Participate in project planning with IT business analysts and team members.
    • May develop work plan timelines and manage workflows to meet project time frames.
    • Work with Applications Developer Team Lead, Sr. Applications Developer, operations team, and architects to ensure the practical, smooth, effective retirement of applications, including data migration, application de-coupling planning, and phased staging to ensure smooth, risk-free application retirement.
    • Provide technical coaching and mentoring to less experienced team members.
  3. Application Development:
    • Identify technical requirements and create technical design specifications, assisting in sizing technical requirements.
    • Code applications using a disciplined development process in accordance with company and team standard development process (SDLC).
    • Integrate solutions with other applications and platforms outside the framework.
    • Develop, execute, and document test plans.
    • Assist in the deployment of new modules, upgrades, and fixes to the production environment.
    • Make modules production ready by moving them to libraries, completing forms, following procedures, and completing version control documents.
    • Provide ongoing maintenance of applications.
    • Participate in review sessions where development patterns and break/fix metrics are reviewed for optimizing IT development processes.
    • Assist in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems.
    • May evaluate new application packages and tools and perform research on best practices, providing recommendations for solutions.
    • Participate in defining and refining standards and procedures and help the team follow them.
  4. Application Maintenance:
    • Provide Level 1 and 2 production support.
    • Troubleshoot existing information systems to identify errors or deficiencies and develop solutions.
    • Evaluate existing applications and platforms and provide recommendations for improving application performance by conducting gap analysis, identifying feasible alternative solutions, and assisting in the scope of modifications.
    • Follow team's documentation standards.
    • Review modules for quality assurance and check compliance with application standards and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  5. Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as a member of a team.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two-year technical or junior college degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science or other related field, or equivalent (two years) relevant work experience.
  • In addition to education or education equivalent, one to three years of programming experience required.
  • Requires working knowledge in at least one programming language.
  • Experience working on WordPress, PHP, and Modern JavaScript (Modern JS).
