We are seeking a Senior WordPress Developer with extensive experience in designing, developing, customizing, and maintaining WordPress-based websites and applications. This is a fixed-term contract position. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of WordPress architecture, PHP development, custom themes, plugins, performance optimization, security best practices, and integrations with third-party systems.

This role is perfect for an individual who can work independently, lead technical decisions, guide other developers, and deliver high-quality WordPress solutions for both business and client-facing environments.

What You Will Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress websites and web applications.
• Build and customize WordPress themes and plugins.
• Develop custom functionality using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and WordPress APIs.
• Work with page builders such as Elementor, Gutenberg, WPBakery, or similar tools when required.
• Integrate WordPress with third-party platforms, APIs, CRMs, marketing tools, payment gateways, and analytics platforms.
• Optimize website performance, speed, SEO readiness, and Core Web Vitals.
• Implement WordPress security best practices, including updates, backups, access controls, and vulnerability mitigation.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues across themes, plugins, hosting, databases, and integrations.
• Collaborate with designers, project managers, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
• Review code, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior or mid-level developers.
• Support deployment, migration, staging, and production release activities.
• Document technical decisions, configurations, and implementation details.

Your Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• 5+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
• Strong experience with PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Advanced knowledge of WordPress architecture, hooks, filters, custom post types, taxonomies, and REST API.
• Experience developing custom themes and plugins from scratch.
• Experience with WooCommerce customization is strongly preferred.
• Experience with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
• Familiarity with SEO technical best practices.
• Experience with Git-based version control.
• Experience working with staging and production environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex WordPress, hosting, plugin, and database issues.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with remote teams.
• English proficiency: intermediate to advanced (B2 or higher) preferred.
• Strong understanding of website performance optimization.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with headless WordPress or WordPress REST API integrations.
• Experience with React, Vue, or modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience with WP Engine, Kinsta, Pantheon, Cloudways, AWS, or similar hosting platforms.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines or automated deployments.
• Experience supporting enterprise or high-traffic WordPress environments.
• Experience with accessibility standards such as WCAG.
• Experience with multilingual sites using WPML, Polylang, or similar tools.
