Role Overview
We are seeking a highly disciplined Senior Full-Stack WordPress Engineer to take technical ownership of a high-visibility web application. This is a long-term engagement for a mission-critical public portal requiring a professional comfortable writing custom PHP/JavaScript and managing Ansible-driven LEMP stacks.
You will act as the Technical Lead, reporting directly to the Project Manager. You will be responsible for system stability, security remediation, and the delivery of three major data-driven feature enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- System Maintenance: Manage and provision a localized development environment utilizing Trellis, Ansible, Vagrant, and VirtualBox.
- High-Priority Support: Provide rapid response and triage for system incidents during standard business hours (1-hour acknowledgment window).
- Custom Feature Development: Architect and implement major system enhancements involving complex API integrations, database schema extensions, and data visualization.
- Compliance & Security: Maintain 100% adherence to WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility standards and remediate security vulnerabilities identified by enterprise scanning tools.
- Documentation: Conduct deep-dive reviews of existing infrastructure to create technical maintenance and system hand-off documentation.
Technical Must-Haves
- WordPress Expert: 5+ years of custom theme and core development (PHP/Composer).
- DevOps Specialist: Proven experience with Ansible playbooks, Trellis, and Vagrant for environment parity.
- Data & APIs: Expert-level MySQL skills, specifically mapping and ingesting data from external RESTful APIs.
- Frontend Tools: Mastery of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern package managers (Yarn/NVM).
- Security Mindset: Experience with SSL/SSH management and rapid vulnerability patching within an SDLC framework.
Required Mindset
- SDLC Discipline: Values root-cause analysis and staging-environment testing over "quick fixes."
- SLA Reliability: Organized and available to meet strict response windows for critical issues.
- US-Based: Must be located in and authorized to work in the United States due to contract requirements.
Pay: From $75.00 per hour
