We are seeking a senior-level WooCommerce Performance Engineer to stabilize and scale our ecommerce site as we grow. This is NOT a design or basic WordPress development role.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Identify and fix performance bottlenecks in WooCommerce.
- Optimize database queries and reduce server load.
- Implement and manage caching strategy (Cloudflare or equivalent).
- Improve Core Web Vitals (especially mobile performance).
- Reduce the impact of bot traffic and unnecessary requests.
- Audit plugins and eliminate performance issues.
- Improve checkout speed and reliability.
- Set up performance monitoring and alerts.
Required Experience
- Proven experience with WooCommerce at scale.
- Strong understanding of WordPress performance optimization.
- Experience with high-traffic websites.
- Hands-on work with CDN and caching systems (Cloudflare preferred).
- Ability to analyze and optimize database queries.
- Experience troubleshooting slow checkout and cart issues.
Required Technical Skills
- PHP (WordPress/WooCommerce).
- MySQL performance optimization.
- Caching systems and CDN configuration.
- Performance tools (Lighthouse, Query Monitor, GTmetrix, etc.).
- Server-level understanding (not just WordPress dashboard).
