As a Contract Senior Web Services Engineer, you will be crucial in developing thoughtful, high-impact solutions. This role requires embracing ambiguity, collaborating across functions, and prioritizing actions that drive projects forward. What you will do:
- Design and implement scalable database schemas and API interfaces, focusing on security, performance, and developer experience for large-scale, enterprise-grade applications supporting user-generated content.
- Architect high-performance RESTful APIs, GraphQL solutions, and AI-powered features, integrating legacy systems with modern platforms like Stripe, Shopify, Salesforce, and OpenAI.
- Build and integrate Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) and advanced AI/ML capabilities, including semantic search, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), vector embeddings, and prompt engineering, to enhance application intelligence.
- Guide end-to-end project execution, from scoping client requirements to hands-on development using Python, Node.js, Go, and occasionally PHP.
- Troubleshoot third-party integrations, resolve performance bottlenecks, and write comprehensive automated tests.
- Collaborate remotely with globally distributed, cross-functional teams and clients to translate complex business requirements into actionable technical solutions across multiple time zones.
About you:
- You possess 5+ years of backend API development experience, ideally utilizing Python/Django, Node.js/NestJS, or Golang/Gin.
- Proven track record building APIs for at least 3 enterprise applications involving complex third-party integrations in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity, structure unstructured problems, and clearly communicate technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies and collaborative development practices.
- Proficiency in system design and SQL data modeling for high-traffic applications (10k+ daily users).
- Hands-on experience implementing production-ready Large Language Model (LLM) features, including semantic search, vector databases, RAG, and prompt engineering.
- Commitment to continuous learning and solving technical challenges by blending legacy systems with modern web services.
Contractor fee
Compensation is determined based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, projects, geographic location, and business needs.
