Responsibilities and Assignments
Omie is one of the fastest-growing ERPs in Brazil. Our system is the engine of thousands of companies, connecting finance, sales, inventory, and accounting. We are looking for a Junior Backend Developer to join our Engineering team and help build the future of our platform.
Here, you will not just be making "registration screens." You will dive into real business rules, work with high data volumes, and be mentored by a team of top-tier Seniors and Specialists. We are looking for someone with a very strong technical foundation, who masters databases, and is hungry to learn. If you used to code in PHP or .Net, but are up for the challenge of diving into our ecosystem and mastering our stack, this is the best software engineering school you could find.
What you will do on a day-to-day basis:
- Product Development: Code, test, and maintain features in our core ERP, working side-by-side with more experienced developers.
- Hands-on with the Database: Your daily routine will involve writing, reading, and understanding queries in SQL Server, working with tables containing millions of records.
- Continuous Learning: Dive into business rules (financial, tax, purchasing, etc.) to understand what the code solves in the client’s life.
- Stack Evolution: If you come from languages such as C#, .NET, or PHP, your challenge will be to learn, adapt, and start delivering value quickly in our primary stack (XHarbour).
- Best Practices: Actively participate in code reviews, ensuring your code adheres to team standards for quality, security, and version control.
- Tier 3 (L3) Support: Act as the team's "technical detective," investigating and resolving complex incidents escalated by the customer support team. This will be your primary training ground to deeply understand our product by analyzing logs, running diagnostic queries, and fixing issues that directly impact the customer.
Requirements and Qualifications
Non-negotiable Requirements (What you must have):
- Practical Experience: At least 2 years of experience writing production code using backend languages such as PHP, C#, .NET, or Go.
- Logic: Excellent foundation in programming logic, data structures, and algorithms. You need to know how to solve problems before writing the first line of code.
- SQL Server Knowledge: Essential knowledge of data modeling, writing efficient queries (complex JOINs, subqueries), and understanding how a relational database behaves in the real world.
- Version Control: Proficiency with Git and GitHub (branches, merges, pull requests, conflict resolution).
- Willingness to Learn: Open mindset and desire to master new technologies and languages (especially PHP, if it is not your original language).
What will make you stand out (Differentiators):
- Experience using AI in your daily routine to accelerate learning and coding (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Gemini).
- Personal projects, GitHub contributions, or prior experience (even academic) with management or financial systems.
- Basic knowledge of how Cloud works.
