About USAPR
USAPR is building modern compliance infrastructure for pesticide manufacturers, distributors, retailers, applicators, and regulators. Our platform replaces fragmented, manual regulatory workflows with structured data, automation, and AI-assisted compliance intelligence across all 50 U.S. states. This is a real system solving real regulatory problems.
The Role
We are looking for a senior-level full-stack engineer comfortable making architectural decisions and helping take an existing product across the finish line to initial revenue. You will be stepping into a roughly one-year-old Laravel/Vue codebase that already has meaningful functionality. The goal of this engagement is to stabilize, harden, and complete the system so we can confidently begin charging customers.
This role starts as a 4–6 month contract, with the possibility of a longer-term relationship if it’s a strong fit on both sides. You will work directly with the founder and will have real influence over technical direction and system design.
Required Experience
- 15+ years of professional PHP experience
- 5–10+ years of Laravel experience with deep framework knowledge
- 5+ years of Vue.js experience (Vue 2 or Vue 3)
- Proven experience making and owning architectural decisions
- Strong experience with:
- MySQL and relational data modeling
- REST APIs
- Queue systems and background jobs
- Docker-based development environments
- Ability to evaluate existing systems, identify weaknesses, and improve them pragmatically
Architectural Responsibility
This is not a “ticket-taker” role. You will be expected to:
- Evaluate existing architecture and suggest improvements.
- Make decisions around structure, patterns, and tradeoffs.
- Help determine what is “good enough to ship” versus what needs refinement.
- Avoid over-engineering while ensuring long-term maintainability.
- Help bring clarity and confidence to a system approaching commercialization.
AI-First Expectations (Very Important)
We are explicitly looking for someone who actively uses AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Cursor, etc.) in daily development. Leverage AI to:
- Accelerate scaffolding and refactoring.
- Sanity-check logic and edge cases.
- Improve documentation and clarity.
- Move faster without sacrificing correctness.
If you are philosophically opposed to AI-assisted development, this role is not a fit. Modern software development is about using the best tools available, not proving how much you can hand-code.
