About Pioneer
Founded in 1993, Pioneer is a leader in commercial cleaning, serving over 175 partners and cleaning more than 52 million square feet daily across Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Colorado with a team of 1,900 employees and a 93% retention rate. We lead with our hearts, put people first, and go beyond clean by investing in our people and innovating how buildings are cared for.
That innovation runs on Cora, our proprietary technology ecosystem and single source of truth for operations. Cora’s integrated modules — Maps, Reports, Inspections, Tasks, Special Projects, and a bilingual Learning Hub — connect the field, the office, and our partners in real time. CleanCode, a key Cora module, uses QR codes to give partners and tenants instant access to cleaning history, service requests, and feedback.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer to join our product team on a part-time contractor basis, working directly on Cora and CleanCode. You will contribute across the stack, from database schema and API design through to polished, accessible front-end interfaces used every day by our operations teams, frontline staff, and customers. You will collaborate closely on product, design, and others to scope, build, and ship features end-to-end, with a strong focus on quality, performance, and long-term maintainability.
This is a hands-on engineering role. You will own meaningful slices of the product, write the code, review your peers’ work, and help shape technical decisions as Cora continues to evolve.
What You’ll Do
- Ship full-stack features across Cora and CleanCode, from database schema through Laravel APIs to Vue and React interfaces.
- Own work end-to-end: spec refinement with product and design through release, monitoring, and iteration.
- Write clean, well-tested PHP and JavaScript.
- Build and improve AWS infrastructure and the CI/CD pipelines that deploy to it.
- Debug production issues.
- Participate in code review and technical design, and help raise the bar on testing, observability, and developer experience.
What We’re Looking For
- 2-5 years as a full stack developer on a product engineering team.
- Strong PHP/Laravel experience, including production APIs and background jobs.
- Solid MySQL: schema design, indexing, query optimization, and live-data migrations.
- Hands-on with both Vue and React (component design, state management, performance).
- Production AWS knowledge (EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, CloudWatch, IAM) and scripted deployments.
- Clear communicator, self-directed, and reliable on a part-time async schedule.
Nice to Have
- Experience working on SaaS or operational software with established codebases and real customers.
- Exposure to TypeScript, Tailwind, or similar tooling alongside Vue and React.
- Familiarity with observability tooling such as Sentry, or CloudWatch dashboards.
- Prior experience with mobile-friendly or QR-code-driven workflows used by frontline teams.
Engagement Details
- Type: Part-time contractor.
- Hours: Flexible, with agreed weekly availability and reasonable overlap with the core team.
- Location: Remote. Preference for Washington, D.C. or Denver, CO.
- Rate: Competitive, commensurate with experience.
- Start: As soon as a strong candidate is available.
How to Apply
Send a short note about your background, a CV or LinkedIn profile, and links or examples of relevant work (GitHub, case studies, or projects you can speak to). If you have built something with Laravel, Vue, or React that you are proud of, we would love to hear about it.
Pay: $50.00 - $75.00 per hour
Work Location: Remote
