About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join our Systems team. This role involves building, enhancing, and scaling backend solutions that support core business operations and third-party integrations. Beyond hands-on coding, we require a professional with robust PHP backend foundations, capable of autonomous work, critical technical decision-making, and significant contributions to architecture, code quality, and solution design.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in a Symfony-based environment, skilled in building and maintaining REST APIs, experienced with PostgreSQL, and adept at designing reliable third-party system integrations. This individual should also possess the ability to conduct code reviews, propose improvements, and apply senior-level judgment to complex technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Build efficient, testable, and reusable backend services using PHP.
- Develop and maintain features within a Symfony application.
- Design, build, and maintain robust REST APIs.
- Work with PostgreSQL databases and ORM tools like Doctrine.
- Develop and maintain integrations with third-party systems and services.
- Participate in technical solution design and architectural discussions.
- Contribute to performance optimization and backend scalability initiatives.
- Manage synchronous and asynchronous backend processes.
- Lead or contribute to code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
- Write comprehensive tests and promote code quality best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver robust solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Over 4 years of professional backend development experience.
- Strong hands-on proficiency with PHP, specifically PHP 8.3+.
- Extensive experience with Symfony, ideally Symfony 7+.
- Proven experience in designing or maintaining REST APIs.
- Strong expertise with PostgreSQL.
- Experience with ORMs such as Doctrine.
- Solid understanding of synchronous and asynchronous behavior in PHP.
- Experience integrating internal systems with third-party platforms and services.
- Experience participating in or leading code reviews.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound technical judgment.
- Ability to work autonomously, proposing solutions rather than just executing tasks.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Redis.
- Understanding of scalable application design and backend architecture.
- Experience with authentication and authorization across multiple systems.
- Familiarity with queues and state-machine-based workflows.
- Experience working with AI-assisted coding tools, coupled with sound engineering judgment.
- Familiarity with modern development best practices for distributed teams.
