Key Responsibilities
Omie, a rapidly expanding ERP in Brazil, processes a massive volume of daily transactions. We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to play a critical role in our Product Sales module, ensuring seamless merchandise flow for our clients.
You will develop and maintain the core mechanisms for issuing, shipping, and returning tax documents (NF-e, NFC-e, MDF-e) within our proprietary platform. This challenging role involves managing high-volume, critical systems, direct communication with SEFAZ webservices, contingency handling, extensive XML manipulation, complex tax rule implementation (ICMS, IPI), and adapting our system to the new Tax Reform framework. We are looking for PHP experts skilled in SQL Server optimization for peak billing and proficient in using AI for high-level coding.
Daily Activities
- SEFAZ Integration Engineering: Develop, maintain, and scale integrations with SEFAZ webservices (authorization, cancellation, correction letters, invalidation) to ensure resilience and stability.
- Fiscal Product Life Cycle: Architect robust logic for complex operations including shipments, returns, triangulations, and contingency issuances.
- Optimization & High Volume: Perform extensive database work (SQL Server), analyzing execution plans, refactoring heavy queries, and ensuring billing tables with millions of rows respond in milliseconds.
- Tax Strategy & Tax Reform: Code the intricate tax engine (CST/CSOSN, CFOP, NCM, ICMS sharing) and be instrumental in platform restructuring to address Tax Reform impacts on goods circulation (IBS/CBS).
- Asynchronous Processing: Manage messaging and batch processing to prevent bottlenecks or government server outages from halting client billing.
Required Skills & Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Senior PHP Expertise: Minimum 5 years of proven, exclusive PHP programming experience, focused on high-availability systems and clean code.
- Fiscal Expertise (NF-e/SEFAZ): Absolute mastery of product tax document structures (NF-e, NFC-e, MDF-e), XML signing (A1/A3 certificates), and SOAP/REST messaging with SEFAZ.
- SQL Server Mastery: Advanced knowledge in database optimization, including resolving locks, deadlocks, and creating efficient indexes for large-scale billing operations.
- Business Acumen: Clear understanding of product taxation rules (ICMS, IPI, PIS, COFINS) and a strategic vision for how the Tax Reform will impact software business rules.
- Cloud Architecture: Practical experience with Cloud architectures for scalability during peak access (e.g., Black Friday).
- AI-Assisted Development: Hands-on experience using AI tools (Gemini CLI, Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development and support code reviews.
- Best Practices: Proficiency in Git/GitHub, code versioning, and CI/CD pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid experience developing ERPs, POS (Point of Sale) systems, or commercial automation.
- Prior experience with resilience-focused architectures (circuit breakers, queues) to manage government service instability.
- Knowledge of monitoring, structured log creation, and observability.
