Legacy System Migration Specialist / Java API Developer
We are seeking a proactive individual ready to take the lead in a highly critical legacy system migration project. This role focuses on modernizing existing systems, developing robust Java APIs, and ensuring high performance and integrity across Sybase and SQL Server databases.
Responsibilities and Assignments
- Work on a highly critical legacy system migration project.
- Evolve and encapsulate legacy functionalities (ColdFusion/PHP).
- Build and expose APIs using Java.
- Ensure data integrity and performance optimization for Sybase and SQL Server.
- Participate in monolith strangulation strategies, integrations, testing, and cutover processes.
- Utilize CI/CD pipelines within Azure DevOps for deployment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Java
- Weblogic
- ColdFusion or PHP (for legacy maintenance and evolution).
- Databases: Sybase and SQL Server expertise (modeling, stored procedures, views, tuning, transactions).
- Integrations: REST/JSON.
- Knowledge of SOAP is beneficial in legacy scenarios.
- Azure DevOps: Experience with Git repositories and CI/CD pipelines (build/test/release).
- Testing: JUnit/TestNG, Mockito, integration tests; Postman/Newman for APIs.
- Best Practices: Clean code, SOLID principles, API design, error handling, structured logs.
- Security: AuthN/AuthZ (JWT/OAuth2), management of secrets/variables per environment.
