Senior PHP Symfony Developer (Backend / DDD)

We are seeking a Senior PHP Symfony Developer to join an experienced team focused on modernizing our technology stack. This involves cloud migration, application decomposition, Change Data Capture (CDC), and integrating with legacy systems. The role requires strong collaboration across product, SRE, and other service teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend APIs using PHP and Symfony, adhering to Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles.
• Design and implement aggregates, events, and asynchronous workflows with RabbitMQ.
• Contribute to architectural design (hexagonal, CQRS) and technical decision-making within the team.
• Ensure high code quality through Test-Driven Development (TDD), unit, functional, and end-to-end testing, and code reviews.
• Collaborate closely with SREs for infrastructure debugging and deployment (CI/CD, containers, monitoring).
• Contribute to a 70% build / 30% run model, including incident resolution for critical services and corrective maintenance.
• Facilitate inter-team communication by producing Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and clarifying business language/events.

Required Technical Skills & Experience:

• Excellent proficiency in PHP and Symfony, including REST/GraphQL API development and Symfony best practices.
• Strong knowledge of DDD, BDD, hexagonal architecture, CQRS, and aggregate design.
• Experience with asynchronous systems (RabbitMQ, CDC) and event mechanisms.
• A pragmatic approach to technology, staying updated with industry trends while applying advanced expertise.
• Proven experience working in expert teams or contributing to a startup's technical foundation from inception (not solo).
• Proficiency in testing best practices: unit, functional, E2E; TDD experience is highly valued.
• Comfortable with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containers, CI/CD, and infrastructure debugging (logs, Linux commands, SRE collaboration).
• Understanding of observability and monitoring tools (metrics, alerting).

Candidate Profile: Desired Experience:

• 10+ years of backend development experience (ideally 8-15 years overall).
• Successful initial experience with event sourcing.
• Experience with critical products, distributed platforms, and inter-application systems.
• Track record of working on migration projects (data center to cloud) and legacy modernization.

Cross-functional / Soft Skills:

• Strong communication and alignment skills between developers and product teams (clarifying business language).
• Team player with the ability to bridge diverse technical profiles and use pedagogy to improve communication.
• Technological curiosity, eagerness to learn and experiment (AI / assistance tools accepted under internal rules).
• Commitment to quality and pragmatism (knowing when to refactor versus accepting legacy code).

Modalities:

• Work rhythm: Scrum sprints, significant exposure to operations and incident management.
• Environment: Primarily PHP/Symfony, with new applications also built in Symfony.
• Engaged technical team, numerous product and technical initiatives, opportunities for modernization and impact on critical products.
• Long-term mission with no duration limit; 1-month notice period accepted.
