What We're Looking For
We are seeking a PHP Software Engineer with a systemic mindset. This role requires someone who not only masters the technology stack but also bridges technical vision with the daily execution of robust solutions across diverse projects. We need an individual with strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and a high degree of ownership, capable of navigating various contexts and clients with agility to deliver reliable, maintainable, and durable software engineering.
Key Responsibilities of a PHP Engineer at Ideable
- Full Development Lifecycle: Manage development tasks from estimation and acceptance criteria definition through coding, testing, and deployment, owning the complete delivery flow.
- Architecture Implementation: Actively contribute to building the technical foundations of new projects, applying modern patterns to ensure system decoupling, robustness, and scalability tailored to project needs.
- AI Culture Integration: Naturally integrate AI throughout the software lifecycle. Apply AI under our standards, from defining acceptance criteria to creating tests and supporting deployments, and continuously help us enhance our AI utilization.
- Product Health & Observability: Ensure comprehensive application visibility through proactive observability tools like Sentry, and guarantee structural quality via static analysis and health metrics using SonarQube.
- Technical Excellence & Documentation: Produce maintainable, scalable, and well-documented software. Ensure all developments align perfectly with user flows and product team designs.
- Quality Leadership: Apply expert judgment to determine the optimal technical approach for each scenario, ensuring every delivery adds significant value to the company's software ecosystem.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven PHP Development Experience: Over 5 years of experience in PHP development, with expert command of the Laravel framework.
- Software Engineering Culture: Mastery of software engineering best practices and the pragmatic judgment to apply principles like SOLID and Clean Code effectively based on context.
- Architectural Knowledge: Practical experience with modern architectures, asynchronous event management, and high-volume relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL or Oracle).
- AI-Driven Development: Ability to critically and advancedly integrate generative AI tools to enhance software quality across all development phases.
- DevOps Culture: Experience with continuous integration pipelines, including GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or similar environments.
- Communication & Autonomy: Strong ability to make independent technical decisions, take ownership of results, and articulate technical challenges in business terms.
Valued Additional Skills
While not essential, these skills will be a significant plus:
- Infrastructure Vision: Experience or interest in AWS, deployments, CI/CD tools, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Functional Analysis: Capability to translate abstract business requirements into well-structured technical specifications.
