PHP Developer (Regular/Senior)

The foundations have been poured. We are looking for people to build the palace on top of them.
If you are a PHP developer who has been staying in one place for several years because "it is the same legacy everywhere, just poorly documented" – this text is for you. We do not promise greenfield. We promise something rarer: a twenty-year-old monolith that received new foundations over the past three years. Now, together with us, you will build entirely new solutions for IdoSell merchants on top of them.
Where are you joining?
IdoSell is a SaaS platform powering over 8,000 online stores. More than 68 million transactions and 22 billion PLN in GMV pass through it annually. For us, Black Friday is not a marketing campaign, but an annual production load test – the code you write will handle real orders from thousands of merchants on a Friday evening in November.
What has changed over the last three years?
We are not claiming that "we are undergoing a transformation." Most of the work is already behind us:
- New CI/CD, automated tests, and coding standards enforced directly in the pipeline, rather than via "goodwill" code reviews
- New API adhering to the OpenAPI standard with a middleware architecture
- Full separation of frontend from backend – every new front end is built in React using our design system, communicating with the backend exclusively via API
- Full production monitoring with ELK, including measurement and debugging tools for high-load performance
Now the actual building begins – and for that, we need more hands.

What will you be doing?
We will not disclose the full roadmap details in the job ad, but the rules of engagement are clear:
- Delivering short, well-specified projects in IdoSell core – the administrative panel modules through which merchants run daily sales
- Refactoring legacy systems accompanied by unit and functional tests – not just because it is proper practice, but to make every subsequent iteration cheaper
- Leaving the code more modular than you found it – this is our rule for every change
- Writing backend in vanilla PHP 8.2+ with parameterized queries to MySQL – without an ORM and without a framework that thinks for you
- Occasionally assembling simple screens from ready-made React components – we are not looking for a fullstack developer, but a backend engineer who is not intimidated by JSX
- Working with a new API in the OpenAPI standard and collaborating closely with the Tech Lead, Product Managers, and QA
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for individuals at Regular and Senior levels. What matters to us:
- Min. 3 years of commercial software development experience
- Good knowledge of PHP 8.2+ and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Experience with MySQL – confidence in writing queries without ORM assistance
- Hands-on experience in writing tests in PHPUnit
- Ability to work with APIs (REST, OpenAPI) and Git
- English at a level sufficient for comfortably reading technical documentation
- Analytical thinking and requirements gathering skills
- This is not a remote job – we are looking for people ready to work from our office in Szczecin
- Nice to have: PhpStorm, Symfony, RabbitMQ
- Nice to have: experience working with LLMs – everyone on the team has a Claude license (Desktop + Code), and we use it for real work, not just demos
- Nice to have: knowledge of Docker and containerization
Which team will you join?
We are not creating a separate team from scratch for this hiring process. You will join one of the existing core teams – one that already knows the codebase, the context, and its merchants. Every team has a Tech Lead responsible for architecture and quality, as well as a Team Lead acting as a mentor to guide you through onboarding. You will not receive your first projects in a vacuum.

Compensation
We believe in salary transparency. Starting pay depends on your experience and seniority level (Regular/Senior).
- B2B: 10,000 PLN – 18,500 PLN net/month
- Employment contract: 8,400 PLN – 15,500 PLN gross/month
What does the recruitment process look like?
Short and specific – a single stage: an interview. It may include a short task, as we want to see how you gather requirements and write mature code, rather than how much documentation you memorize. No multi-day homework assignments. You will receive feedback within two weeks – regardless of the decision.
