We are seeking a Mid-Level Backend Developer with a focus on PHP and Laravel to join the technology team of a rapidly expanding Online English Language Institution.
This position is for a technically mature and autonomous professional. We are looking for someone who not only executes tasks but also understands business logic, can navigate legacy systems, and actively contributes to the evolution of our educational architecture. You will find a dynamic environment where investigative curiosity is essential for mapping processes and implementing performance and security improvements.
Responsibilities and Attributions
1. Development and Maintenance (Hands-on)
- Develop and maintain secure and scalable RESTful APIs using PHP v8.4+ and Laravel v10+.
- Implement and manage critical integrations, including Payment Gateways and OAuth2 authentication (Laravel Passport).
- Work with real-time communication via WebSockets (Pusher) for student status and payment updates.
- Ensure code quality through best practices and automated test coverage with PHPUnit.
2. Ecosystem Support and Evolution
- Legacy Challenge: Work on systems with limited initial documentation, performing reverse engineering on code to understand business rules and assist in creating technical documentation.
- Monitor and optimize MySQL database, addressing slow queries and ensuring data integrity.
- Perform necessary technical interventions in databases or contract generation while collaborating on automating these processes.
3. Collaboration and Processes
- Actively participate in agile ceremonies (Daily), reporting progress and signaling impediments.
- Collaborate with the Front-end team for integration of complex interfaces (Student Area and Checkout).
- Maintain workflow organization in ClickUp, ensuring timely and well-documented deliveries.
Technical Requirements (Hard Skills)
The candidate must have solid experience with the institution's technology stack:
- Back-end: Proficiency in PHP 8+ and Laravel Framework (Service Container, Eloquent, Jobs/Queues, Middlewares).
- Database: Solid knowledge of MySQL (Modeling, Indexing, and Optimization).
- API: Advanced experience in consuming and creating RESTful APIs.
- Infra/Tools: Git/GitHub (GitFlow and Pull Requests), Composer, NPM, and Linux environment.
- Testing: Experience with unit and integration tests.
Differentiators (Nice to have):
- Familiarity with Vue.js 2.x or React Native (for better Front-end integration).
- Previous experience in EdTechs or E-commerce.
- Knowledge of Docker.
