Mid-Level Backend Developer | PHP/Laravel

We are seeking a Mid-Level Backend Developer specializing in PHP and Laravel to join the technology team of a constantly expanding Online English Education Institution.

This position requires technical maturity and autonomy. We are looking for a professional who not only executes tasks but also understands business logic, can navigate legacy systems, and actively contributes to the evolution of our educational architecture. You will find a dynamic environment where investigative curiosity is essential for mapping processes and implementing performance and security improvements.

Key Responsibilities and Attributions

1. Development and Maintenance (Hands-on)

• Develop and maintain secure and scalable RESTful APIs using PHP v8.4+ and Laravel v10+.
• Implement and manage critical integrations, including Payment Gateways and OAuth2 authentication (Laravel Passport).
• Work with real-time communication via WebSockets (Pusher) for student status and payment updates.
• Ensure code quality through best practices and automated test coverage using PHPUnit.

2. Sustaining and Evolution of the Ecosystem

• Legacy Challenge: Work on systems with limited initial documentation, performing reverse engineering on code to understand business rules and assist in creating technical documentation.
• Monitor and optimize the MySQL database, addressing slow queries and ensuring data integrity.
• Perform necessary technical interventions in the database or contract generation while collaborating on the automation of these processes.

3. Collaboration and Processes

• Actively participate in agile ceremonies (Daily stand-ups), reporting progress and signaling impediments.
• Collaborate with the Front-end team for the integration of complex interfaces (Student Area and Checkout).
• Maintain workflow organization in ClickUp, ensuring timely and well-documented deliveries.

Required Technical Skills (Hard Skills)

The candidate must have solid experience with the institution's technology stack:

• Back-end: Mastery of PHP 8+ and Laravel Framework (Service Container, Eloquent, Jobs/Queues, Middlewares).
• Database: Solid knowledge of MySQL (Modeling, Indexing, and Optimization).
• API: Advanced experience in consuming and creating RESTful APIs.
• Infra/Tools: Git/GitHub (GitFlow and Pull Requests), Composer, NPM, and Linux environment.
• Testing: Experience with unit and integration tests.

Nice to Have (Differentiators)

• Notions of Vue.js 2.x or React Native (for better integration with the Front-end).
• Previous experience in EdTechs or E-commerce.
• Knowledge of Docker.
