We are a psychotherapy-focused healthcare startup building an innovative online platform powered by a custom WordPress-based learning management system (LMS). Our small, mission-driven team is seeking a reliable junior developer to support ongoing maintenance and targeted enhancements under direct guidance from our CEO and senior web programmer.

Role Summary

You will serve as a responsive, hands-on contributor focused on user support, issue triage, and small-to-medium programming tasks. This is a junior-level role requiring proven experience with WordPress, PHP, and related technologies—no on-the-job training for core skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Report directly to the CEO and coordinate all technical work with the senior web programmer.
• Respond within 24 hours to user-reported website issues with reliable troubleshooting and resolution.
• Maintain and extend our custom WordPress LMS by addressing common bugs, performance issues, and user friction points.
• Identify systemic or underlying programming problems and escalate appropriately with clear documentation.
• Complete assigned programming tasks (e.g., bug fixes, feature tweaks, plugin/theme adjustments) in coordination with the senior programmer.
• Use GitHub for version control, issue tracking, and pull requests.
• Ensure all changes are safe, tested, and do not risk MySQL data integrity.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven hands-on experience with:
  • WordPress core, custom plugin development, and custom theme development
  • PHP (object-oriented programming, class instantiation, dependency injection)
  • JavaScript and jQuery
  • MySQL query optimization and safe data handling
  • GitHub (issues, branching, PRs)
• Familiarity with learning management systems (custom LMS experience a strong plus)
• Ability to self-educate on platform-specific quirks while adhering to existing code standards
• Strong communication skills and reliability (24-hour response SLA is non-negotiable)
• No junior “learners” or experimentation without senior oversight—you must deliver production-ready code from day one.
