Junior Fullstack Engineer Intern

This role is ideal for individuals comfortable with both frontend and backend development, who enjoy enhancing existing products, and can work independently in a remote setting. It suits someone eager to gain practical experience across our technology stack while optimizing and maintaining product features, enabling senior engineers to focus on core development initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Product Optimization: Address and complete product optimization tasks from the engineering backlog, including UI fixes, minor feature enhancements, API/backend modifications, conversion and funnel improvements, and performance or quality cleanup.
• Fullstack Development: Implement changes across the entire stack, utilizing React, Next.js, and TypeScript for frontend development, alongside Node.js, APIs, and PHP for backend systems.
• A/B Testing & Growth Experiments: Provide end-to-end support for A/B tests and growth experiments by building variants, implementing necessary backend adjustments, configuring tracking, and assisting with result interpretation.
• Bug Fixing & Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve bugs and product issues reported by Product, Support, or QA teams, tracing problems across both frontend and backend as required.
• Code Quality & Reviews: Produce clean, well-structured Pull Requests (PRs) and offer constructive feedback during code reviews.
• Product & Design Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to understand requirements, translate concise briefs into functional solutions, and deliver changes with minimal supervision.
• Async-First Teamwork: Integrate into the engineering team’s standard workflow, including daily standups, asynchronous communication, and ticket management via Linear. Deploy changes through GitHub PRs and reviews.
• Delivery & Ownership: Take full ownership of assigned tickets, proactively seek guidance from senior engineers when needed, and prioritize delivering practical improvements within the same week, avoiding prolonged task durations.

Qualifications and Requirements

This internship is designed for students or recent graduates seeking hands-on experience in healthcare, operations, product development, or startup environments.

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (or possess equivalent self-taught experience with a strong portfolio/GitHub presence).
• Must be based in Malaysia and available for a 3–6 month remote contract.
• Possess strong fundamentals in JavaScript/TypeScript and React, with foundational backend/API experience using Node.js or similar technologies.
• Comfortable navigating and contributing to an existing codebase, not solely focused on building projects from scratch.
• Has successfully shipped a real project, whether through freelance work, an internship, open-source contributions, or personal development initiatives.
• Demonstrates clear written communication skills, capable of explaining bugs, changes, and blockers efficiently without excessive back-and-forth.
• Comfortable utilizing AI-assisted “vibe coding” tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude Code to accelerate development and enhance feature delivery efficiency.

Nice to have: Experience with Next.js and relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL, familiarity with Git workflows and PR-based collaboration, and an interest in healthcare, telehealth, or consumer products.
