WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Junior Full-Stack Web Developer (PHP/Laravel + SQL) for ESA Space Programs

Join our client’s international technical team to contribute to the development and maintenance of critical web applications supporting major European space programs. Our client is a long-standing partner of space institutions, delivering solutions for Earth Observation, scientific data platforms, and operational digital environments.

This role requires working onsite at ESA-ESRIN in Frascati, collaborating closely with scientific and technical experts on both evolutionary development and corrective maintenance of ESA’s web platforms.

We seek a motivated Junior Full-Stack Web Developer with 1–5+ years of experience, possessing strong foundations in PHP/Laravel and SQL, eager to grow within a technical, scientific, and multicultural environment.

Mandatory Requirements: Relocation to Frascati (Rome) is required for candidates living outside the area. A B2 level of English proficiency is necessary for daily interactions with ESA teams and international stakeholders.

YOUR TASKS

You will focus on web applications and digital tools within ESA’s Earth Observation ecosystem. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and enhancing web applications supporting European space initiatives.
  • Working with PHP, Laravel (nice to have), WordPress, and related technologies used across ESA platforms.
  • Implementing new features and improvements in collaboration with scientific and technical teams.
  • Performing debugging, bug fixing, and full-stack issue analysis.
  • Managing web content, modules, and service components.
  • Writing, optimizing, and debugging SQL queries, stored logic, and data workflows.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with ESA technical requirements, documentation procedures, and security constraints.
  • Participating in technical discussions, requirement reviews, and internal coordination meetings.
  • Producing and maintaining technical documentation according to ESA standards.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong knowledge of PHP (mandatory) and SQL (mandatory).
  • Experience with web frameworks; familiarity with Laravel is a strong plus, as several components rely on it.
  • Experience with WordPress or similar Content Management System (CMS) tools used across the ESA environment.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end adjustments.
  • Ability to handle maintenance, bug fixing, and feature evolution in a full-stack context.
  • Understanding of web architectures, APIs, and integration workflows.
  • Ability to follow technical specifications, compliance guidelines, and structured change processes.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, international, scientific environment.
  • Approximately 1–3+ years of experience in web development (flexible depending on skills and potential).
