What You'll Be Doing

Overview of responsibilities

You will build a modern vacation platform end-to-end, encompassing advanced search, multi-currency reservations, billing, inventory, and third-party integrations. The technology stack includes a PHP/Symfony back end with a Next.js front end and admin system.

  • Design and build scalable, maintainable PHP/Symfony applications and APIs
  • Model complex business domains using Domain-Driven Design, ensuring well-bounded and adaptable business logic
  • Build Next.js/React features in TypeScript for both customer-facing front ends and the admin system
  • Develop and optimize search experiences for members, including real-time results delivery via Mercure
  • Design efficient PostgreSQL schemas and queries, implementing scalable caching strategies
  • Design secure, high-performing APIs and build complex integrations with third-party providers, internal services, and external data sources
  • Utilize AI tools to accelerate development while maintaining ownership of correctness, security, and maintainability, and contribute to team practices for AI-assisted development
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and engineering standards through code review, testing, and documentation
  • Partner with Product, Design, QA, DevOps, and Security in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Expect roughly a 60/40 back-end/front-end split:
  • Early work will be back-end heavy (server, APIs, integrations).
  • Later stages may involve almost entirely Next.js admin work.

Who We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of expert professional PHP development, with advanced, hands-on Symfony experience
  • Production-level Next.js and React experience in TypeScript, demonstrating true full-stack capability
  • Practical application of Domain-Driven Design in daily work
  • Hands-on experience with Mercure and event-driven architecture
  • Advanced PostgreSQL skills, including schema design and query optimization
  • Experience with search systems such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or similar
  • Deep caching expertise: Redis, HTTP caching, and application-level caching
  • Proven track record in designing and delivering complex API integrations
  • Hands-on AI-assisted development experience, with a clear understanding of its limitations and accountability for shipped code
  • Solid understanding of OOP, design patterns, and service-oriented architecture; experience with CI/CD, Git, and Docker
  • Expert English proficiency, both written and spoken
  • A self-starter who works independently and communicates proactively in a fast-paced environment
  • Nice to have: AWS (strongly preferred), hexagonal architecture, or experience in hospitality, travel, eCommerce, or marketplace platforms
