About you
You are a well-rounded full stack developer with strong expertise in PHP and WordPress. You’re confident working across both the front and back end, and have hands-on experience building dynamic platforms with custom plugins, themes, and real-time features. In this role, you’ll help design, develop, and optimize user-driven systems, with a focus on performance, responsiveness, and scalability.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Developing custom WordPress plugins and themes from scratch
- Writing and optimizing complex MySQL queries and indexes
- Creating responsive front-end interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery
- Building AJAX-driven functionality using admin-ajax.php and the WordPress REST API
- Designing and developing community/social media-style platforms (forums, content feeds, etc.)
- Creating systems for user-generated content (posts, comments, likes, media uploads)
- Developing voting systems and content sorting (hot/new/top), with efficient pagination
- Implementing custom user profile pages and managing role-based access
- Adding real-time interactivity (e.g., likes, live notifications) using AJAX
- Managing local development environments (LocalWP, XAMPP, MAMP)
- Optimizing WordPress performance using caching, CDN, and lazy loading
- Using Git for version control and collaborative development
Competencies and Technology Experience
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or similar.
- Advanced proficiency in PHP and WordPress development
- Experience creating and customizing plugins and themes
- Strong MySQL skills, including performance tuning and indexing
- Solid front-end development skills with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery
- Hands-on experience with AJAX in WordPress (admin-ajax.php and REST API)
- Previous work on social/community platforms (forums, voting, content feeds)
- Understanding of user roles, permissions, and custom user profile systems
- Experience with WordPress performance optimization (caching, CDNs, asset management)
- Familiarity with Git version control workflows
- Comfortable with local development environments (LocalWP, XAMPP, MAMP)
