As a Full Stack Web Engineer at Fueled, you will transform user stories and tickets into clean, production-ready code for large-scale digital experiences. Specializing in enterprise WordPress engagements, you will deliver end-to-end features, encompassing frontend development, modern PHP, JavaScript, and Gutenberg blocks in React.js. You will implement designs and requirements within WordPress themes and plugins, utilizing AI-assisted workflows, comprehensive documentation, and senior engineer support to elevate your work.
This role is ideal for engineers passionate about their craft, who produce high-quality code, value rigorous code reviews, and leverage AI tools as a force multiplier. You should be adept at managing features from conception to deployment, making informed decisions, and delivering polished, production-ready results. What you will do:
- Build features for enterprise WordPress solutions, including custom Gutenberg blocks in React.js, plugins, and themes using modern HTML/CSS and structured PHP.
- Manage tickets end-to-end: interpret requirements, make informed decisions when details are ambiguous, and submit reviewable pull requests with clear summaries of your methodology, assumptions, and testing.
- Translate Figma designs and project requirements into polished, responsive features and reusable components within WordPress themes and plugins.
- Integrate AI tools into your daily workflow to accelerate implementation and debugging, ensuring critical validation of all outputs before pull requests.
- Incorporate code review feedback from senior and lead engineers to enhance your skills and adopt best practices.
- Collaborate proactively and asynchronously in English with distributed engineering, design, and delivery teams.
What you will achieve:
- Within your first month, successfully ship merged, production-ready pull requests on a live client project, demonstrating your ability to execute written directions.
- By the 3-month mark, independently manage tickets from requirement to release, with increasingly efficient review cycles.
- Achieve measurable acceleration in project delivery through your AI-assisted workflow, maintaining high-quality standards.
- Establish trust with engineering leads as a reliable contributor known for high-quality pull requests.
- By contract completion, build a portfolio of enterprise-grade work, enhance your skills, and receive an invitation for future collaborations.
About you:
- Possess strong agency or consultancy experience in developing WordPress solutions for large-scale, enterprise projects, including high-traffic sites and demanding client environments.
- Proficient across the web stack, including HTML, CSS, modern PHP, JavaScript, and the Gutenberg ecosystem, with experience building custom blocks using React.js. Experience with open-source tools like ElasticPress or ClassifAI is a plus.
- Actively integrate AI tools into your workflow for accelerated development, while maintaining critical validation of outputs.
- Demonstrate a passion for continuous skill improvement, actively seeking best practices and code review, and ensuring a deep understanding of all deployed code.
- Communicate clearly in both written and spoken English, capable of articulating technical decisions, assumptions, and tradeoffs.
- Based in Latin America, thriving in a distributed team environment with real-time collaboration across US time zones.
Contractor Fee
Compensation is determined by factors such as relevant experience, projects, geographic location, and business needs. Contractor fees are paid in USD.
