Quick Summary
You will contribute to the technical development of bredanetwerk.nl and our upcoming online member and business platform. Your initial tasks will involve analyzing the current WordPress environment to identify technical bottlenecks, dependencies, security risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Subsequently, you will work in a secure test environment to implement concrete enhancements related to registration and login, user roles, member profiles, company pages, forms, email processes, events, payments, mobile UX, performance, and overall manageability.
Additionally, we will explore whether Drupal could serve as a suitable long-term foundation for the platform. Depending on your knowledge and interests, a part of the internship may involve developing a Drupal proof-of-concept in a separate test environment and conducting a technical comparison between WordPress and Drupal.
You will utilize version control, thoroughly test changes before deployment to production, and document your technical decisions. At the conclusion of the internship, you will present your results and provide a well-reasoned recommendation for the platform's future development. This role emphasizes genuine software development and technical research, going beyond simple website improvements.

Stichting Breda Netwerk is a regional network for entrepreneurs, professionals, education, and organizations in Breda and the surrounding area. You will work on an existing platform with real users and have the opportunity to contribute to the future technical architecture.
We are preferably seeking an HBO-ICT or mbo-4 Software Developer student with an interest in web development, software engineering, databases, and platform development. Experience with WordPress, PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript, Git, APIs, or Drupal is a plus, but strong motivation and technical problem-solving abilities are equally important.
The internship can be performed partly independently and partly under supervision. Due to the regional focus of Breda Netwerk, candidates from Breda and the surrounding area are preferred if equally suitable.
Internship period: Preferably September 2026
Salary: Up to €600.00 per month
