Quick Summary
Frontend Developer at AvaiBook (SaaS Platform)
AvaiBook, part of the idealista.com ecosystem, is seeking a talented Frontend Developer to enhance the customer experience on our SaaS platform. Since 2010, we have specialized in developing and marketing SaaS solutions for vacation rental and flexliving management, helping owners and tourism managers automate operations and optimize business performance.
We are official partners with Booking.com, Airbnb, VRBO, and Google, operating across Spain, Italy, and Portugal. Our diverse team of over 60 professionals works collaboratively across 6 departments with a transversal product and business vision.
The Challenge
We are looking for an autonomous and experienced frontend professional who can contribute value from day one. While you'll be supported by an experienced team, we seek someone capable of independent work and sound judgment. You will drive the evolution of our frontend products, including the owner's extranet and the traveler's booking engine. Our primary tech stack includes React, Next.js, and TypeScript. A key challenge will be the progressive migration of our current technologies—PHP, jQuery, and Bootstrap—to Next.js.
We are also refining our collaboration processes between Product, UX, and Development. We aim for frontend developers to engage in the early stages of design, offering technical and product insights during solution exploration. Your experience, product acumen, and autonomous work style will be crucial in shaping this evolving process.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop functionalities for the owner's extranet (reservations, payments, accommodation management, statistics, guest communications) and the public booking engine.
- Collaborate closely with UX and Product teams during solution exploration.
- Contribute to our evolving design system by creating well-documented, reusable components based on design tokens.
- Participate in the progressive migration of our legacy frontend (PHP, jQuery, Bootstrap) to Next.js, managing coexistence during the transition.
- Strengthen our testing strategy, including unit, component, and end-to-end (e2e) tests with Playwright.
- Integrate the frontend with our REST APIs, working with backend teams and utilizing DTOs to decouple the UI from the API.
- Ensure high standards of performance, accessibility (WCAG), and internationalization (supporting ES, IT, PT, EN).
- Utilize Git Flow and actively participate in pull request reviews, providing and receiving clear, constructive feedback.
- Leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) in daily development, testing, review, and documentation, sharing best practices with the team.
Our Work Culture
We are a team that values transparency, closeness, quality, and humility. This means:
- Transparency: We openly share context, decisions, and challenges.
- Closeness: We communicate clearly and support each other, even in a remote setting.
- Quality: We pay meticulous attention to detail, ensuring solutions are robust, not just functional.
- Humility: We acknowledge mistakes, ask questions freely, and foster continuous learning.
Beyond technical skills, we seek team members who embody these values.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of professional frontend development experience with production web projects.
- Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript, including experience with Next.js (App Router, SSR).
- Advanced HTML and CSS skills: CSS Modules, CSS variables, token-based design, and responsive layouts. Familiarity with Bootstrap and jQuery for legacy system coexistence.
- Experience developing complex forms and tables.
- Frontend testing expertise (Jest/Testing Library and/or Playwright).
- Knowledge of web accessibility (WCAG) and performance optimization.
- Proven experience consuming REST APIs.
- Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker environments.
- Daily use of AI development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) with the judgment to validate generated content.
- Strong product judgment and design sensitivity: ability to understand the problem thoroughly before proposing solutions.
- Demonstrated autonomy in a remote work environment, clear communication skills, and technical English proficiency.
Bonus Points
- Experience with design systems, Storybook, and monorepos (pnpm, Turborepo).
- Track record of migrating JavaScript to TypeScript or modernizing legacy frontend systems.
- Experience with i18n, feature flags, and charting libraries (Recharts).
- Ability to rapidly prototype and bring prototypes to production.
- Proficiency with Figma and close collaboration with design teams.
- Experience with SaaS products, reservation systems, e-commerce, or payment gateways (Stripe, Paycomet).
- Fluency in Italian or Portuguese.
What We Offer
- A high-caliber technical team with a horizontal, bureaucracy-free culture.
- Genuine autonomy and opportunities to propose solutions, not just execute tasks.
- A 100% remote work contract.
- Access to advanced AI tools and continuous professional development.
- Stability and resources from the idealista ecosystem.
- Mentorship from a lead to support your career growth.
- A young, international, respectful, and highly collaborative work environment.
- Access to a flexible remuneration plan (transport card, gourmet vouchers, co-financed medical insurance) from day one.
