WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ESA Full-Stack Web Developer (PHP/Laravel + SQL)

Join our client’s international technical team to develop and maintain web applications supporting major European space programmes. Our client is a long-standing partner of space institutions, providing solutions for Earth Observation, scientific data platforms, and operational digital environments.

This role requires working onsite at ESA-ESRIN (Frascati). You will collaborate closely with scientific and technical experts, supporting both evolutionary development and corrective maintenance of ESA’s web platforms.

We seek a motivated Full-Stack Web Developer with strong foundations in PHP and SQL. Familiarity with Laravel is highly valued. A B2 level of English is mandatory for daily interactions with ESA teams and international stakeholders.

YOUR TASKS

You will contribute to web applications and digital tools within ESA’s Earth Observation ecosystem. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and enhancing web applications supporting European space initiatives.
  • Utilizing PHP, Laravel (nice to have), WordPress, and related technologies across ESA platforms.
  • Implementing new features and improvements alongside scientific and technical teams.
  • Performing full-stack debugging, bug fixing, and issue analysis.
  • Managing web content, service components, and modules.
  • Writing, optimizing, and debugging SQL queries, stored logic, and data workflows.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with ESA technical requirements, documentation procedures, and security constraints.
  • Participating in technical discussions, requirement reviews, and internal coordination meetings.
  • Producing and maintaining technical documentation adhering to ESA standards.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong knowledge of PHP (Mandatory) and SQL (Mandatory).
  • Experience with web frameworks; familiarity with Laravel is a significant advantage, as it is used by several components.
  • Experience utilizing WordPress or comparable CMS tools within the ESA environment.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for necessary front-end adjustments.
  • Proven ability to handle maintenance, bug fixing, and feature evolution in a full-stack development context.
  • Solid understanding of web architectures, APIs, and integration workflows.
  • Capability to adhere strictly to technical specifications, compliance guidelines, and structured change processes.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and proactive work ethic.
  • Ability to thrive in a multicultural, international, and scientific environment.
  • Approximately 1–3+ years of experience in web development (flexible based on demonstrated skills and potential).
