Back-End Engineer
LotusFlare, a cloud-native SaaS provider based in Silicon Valley, is seeking a Software Engineer for our Server Engineering team in Krakow. We design, build, and evolve the Digital Network Operator (DNO) Cloud, a digital commerce and monetization platform licensed to telecommunications providers globally, supporting millions of customers. We also operate Nomad, a leading eSIM travel product available via iOS, Android, or getnomad.app.
Our office is located at Aleja Pokoju 18 in Krakow. We offer a dynamic hybrid work model, encouraging collaboration in the office.
Summary
As a Software Engineer on the Server Engineering team, you will collaborate closely with the engineering team and Mobile Operators to build a robust network stack capable of supporting millions of users. We seek candidates with system or development backgrounds who are self-directed and can own solutions from design through implementation. A deep understanding of core technologies, redundancy, and established best practices is crucial.
Responsibilities
The Server Engineer will be responsible for further developing, securing, and scaling the backend infrastructure. This infrastructure supports our platform, which integrates mobile client-side libraries, apps, and mobile network carrier systems, enabling it to handle millions of concurrent API calls.
Important Notes
- We are looking for developers willing to switch to our core tech stack: Scala/Lua, regardless of previous Back-End language experience.
- We are only considering candidates who are currently in Krakow or willing to relocate there.
Requirements
- 3+ years of work experience, including programming experience in Java, any JVM language, PHP, C++, Scala, or Lua.
- BA/BS in Computer Science or a related technical field is mandatory.
- 3+ years of experience building secure, scalable web services.
- Experience with distributed systems.
- Experience with RESTful services.
- Good understanding of the network stack and HTTP protocol.
- Experience with concurrency, multithreading, or asynchronous programming.
- Understanding of data modeling in SQL and/or NoSQL environments.
- Experience with AWS, Redis, Kafka, and Cassandra (any combination) would be a plus.
