Accutics - Lead Backend Developer/ 1 day ago

Application ends: 2026-07-11

Quick Summary

Kold & Partners is recruiting a Lead Backend Developer for Accutics, a B2B SaaS company in Copenhagen. In this hands-on senior role, you will write code, guide a small backend team, shape architecture, and represent the backend in technical forums. Candidates must have strong PHP and Laravel experience, SQL database optimization skills, and familiarity with AI development tools like Cursor or Claude Code. The position is based in central Copenhagen with remote work permitted on Tuesdays.

We are working with Accutics to find an experienced backend developer who's ready to step into a lead role. Accutics is a B2B SaaS company delivering a marketing data governance and campaign-tracking platform; a single shared data language that helps global brands such as Dyson, Coop, and Nordea standardise, validate, and connect their marketing data across platforms. With AI-ready marketing data now at the centre of where the product is heading, the backend has a real part to play.

This is not a ticket-handling or pure operations job. It's a chance to sit at the core of a live PHP/Laravel platform, own the backend side technically, and help shape how a small, sharp development team builds.

The role

The team today is two backend and three frontend developers, and Accutics wants to strengthen the backend side with a technical lead. You will come in as a hands-on senior who still loves writing code, but who's ready to take more ownership: helping the other backend developers when they get stuck, weighing in on architecture, and representing backend in the technical forums and feature-design sessions alongside the frontend lead.

Most of your week is feature development inside a Scrum-based product process with tight feedback loops. But this is a real product with real users, so every now and then something interesting lands - a tricky bug that surfaced overnight, a sudden need to onboard a couple of thousand users, a performance problem that needs a creative fix. Some weeks that's nothing; some weeks it's the best part of the job. What matters is the mindset: nobody hands you a script. You look at the problem, work out how to solve it, and drive it to done.

Working with AI

Accutics expects you to be comfortable working with modern AI tooling — Cursor, Claude Code, MCP, and the like. You don't need to be an expert, but you are intrigued and see the real value. More important than tool experience is judgment: knowing what's worth building, setting up experiments with clear success criteria, and being able to step back and ask "is this the version that creates value?" rather than generating code simply because it's easy to. AI makes it cheap to produce almost anything, the real skill is deciding what's worth producing.

Must-have skills

  • PHP & Laravel - strong, current backend experience.
  • Problem-solving and self-direction - you can diagnose and resolve issues
  • SQL databases - comfortable not just working with them but optimizing structure and performance, so the platform scales without simply paying for a bigger database.
  • Git and collaborative development workflows.
  • REST APIs and third-party integrations - solid working understanding.
  • AI development tools - at home with (or at least open to and curious about) tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and MCP.

Nice-to-have skills

  • Cloud infrastructure experience. AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda) is ideal, but Azure or Google Cloud is fine - it's understanding the concepts that matter.
  • Docker and containerized development environments.
  • Awareness of CI/CD and deployment automation.
  • Monitoring and debugging tools - New Relic, Sentry, or similar.
  • Any hands-on experience customizing or training AI models (RAG, building on top of a foundation model, e.g. via AWS Bedrock). Accutics already uses AI in the platform and is moving toward AI-ready marketing data, so there's real room to take this further - even having "dabbled" here is a plus.

Who you are

Self-sufficient, proactive, and creative. You take ownership of a problem and run with it. You enjoy collaborating, you're happy to have a real voice in the product rather than just executing a spec, and you can zoom out to see the bigger picture when it counts.

What's on offer

  • A core technical role on a real product, with genuine influence over the backend direction.
  • A small, collaborative team that values working closely together.
  • Central Copenhagen office, on-site with remote work on Tuesdays.
  • Room to grow into the lead role and to work with new technology, including AI.
  • A sustainable, healthy work culture and good work-life balance.

How to apply

The process is facilitated by Kold & Partners and starts with an introductory conversation where we cover your background, what you're looking for, and compensation expectations. So apply here or reach out to me directly and we'll take it from there.
